PAPUA – KORINDO Group through PT Korindo Abadi that operates in Boven Digoel Regency Papua built Totora River Bridge located in Prabu, Asiki Village. This bridge was officially inaugurated on Friday (28/9). This assistance from KORINDO was very much longed for by the community to support transportation in order to improve the economy of the region located in the remote area of Papua.

The bridge was inaugurated by the Deputy Regent of Boven Digoel, Resort Police Chief of Boven Digoel Regency, Military District Commander 1711 Boven Digoel, Battalion Commander 143 Border Security Task Force RI-PNG, Sector Police Chief of Jair District Boven Digoel, Representative of DPRD Boven Digoel, the management of PT Korindo Abadi, as well as Muspika (sub-district authorities) of Jair District Boven Digoel Regency.

Previously, the bridge was only made of wood and started experiencing damage so it was feared it would endanger the users’ safety. Seeing such condition and the existence of the bridge that is very much needed by the community, PT Korindo Abadi replaced it with a permanent bridge.

The bridge is very strategic, considering that it is a facility connecting Aiwat Village with other areas located in Jair District and Subur District.

In the inauguration event, the Deputy Regent of Boven Digoel, H. Chaerul Anwar, ST stated that the construction of the 15 meters long bridge can give impacts to the economy and the education in Prabu Village, Asiki and the surrounding areas. This is realized thanks to cooperation from all parties. He hoped the community can keep and maintain the bridge for the sake of common interest. The Deputy Regent also delivered his gratitude to KORINDO Group, in particular PT Korindo Abadi for building the facility needed by the community of Prabu Village, Jair District, Boven Digoel Regency.

Meanwhile, Yusuf Omba as the land owner and community representative, thanked Korindo Abadi for the bridge construction. In a similar tone with the Deputy Regent, Land Owner Yusuf Omba also hoped that the community can keep and maintain what has been built so it can last a long time. (ka/pr)
