Bali

The word, Bali is originated from Wari in Sanskrit that have a meaning of a sacrifice offering to the god. Located just east of Java Island where Jakarta is situated, the Bali is an island with excellent natural beauty so as to be called as the island of fantasy, and thus became a renowned tourist attraction. A match to the fame is made with transportation, accommodation facilities to attract approximately four million tourists a year.

The people in Bali are the sole followers of Bali Hindi, a unique religion that is formed by the mixture of native religion (animism) and Mahayana Buddhism transferred from China.

There are three temples in the island, one for the god of creation, another for the god of ambiguity, and the other for the god of destruction, and also there are more than 20,000 temples, small and big, and the residents' houses are mostly composed of many shrines to play the role as temples. On the day when they offer the god, the Bali people decorate the temples and the place for offering in bright colors, the white means purity and the righteousness, the yellow for loyalty to the gods, and the black for the devil.

One interesting thing in Bali culture is that the roles of the male and females are contrary to what would be the normal: males are involved in wood carving, painting, or child care at home while females are engaged in outdoor activities including farming.

Bedugul region

Situated on the high land with an altitude of 1,200 meters above the sea, it is always cool and so chilly in the morning and at night that one has to wear overcoat. The worldly famous Handara gold course is placed in this area, where a Korean restaurant is open.

Lake Bratan (Danau Bratan)

Lake Bratan is the most beautiful among the three lakes in Bedugul region, which is regarded important as a source of water for the farm land in the vicinity. The people in Bali think highly of water and "Vishunu" in Hindi is a god representing water, in which they believe the life stems from water.

On the other side of the lake is Ulundanu temple that is renowned for its beauty, the base of which is Ulundanu temple in the Batur located in the Kintamani volcano area. In the lake Bratan it is possible to play in the water, like boating, jet skiing, parasailing.

Botanical Garden (Danau Bratan)

Two kilometers inside the Bedugul fruit market is an elegant park surrounded by woods, which is called Kubunraya, a place so well organized in order as to extract an exclamation.

Kintamani volcano area

As the area is located on a hill 1,460 meters above sea level, it is cool all the year round and one can feel chilly in the morning and at night.

Kintamani volcano has a double crater volcano, where volcanoes erupted three times in 1927, 1929 and as recently as 1947 at the center of a lake formed in a crater that resulted from a eruption long time ago, with unique shape that look similar to a Korean bowl. Even now, smoke is emitting from the crater with frames and a lot of ashes that makes one wonder how soon it will erupt again.

Beneath the crater lies lake Batur, which maintains the same depth all the year round even in the rainy season or dry season, leading the residents to a belief that the god has taking care of the lake to keep the same depth, which also reflects the Bali people's belief in the god.

Sanur area

Sanur is an area called Waikiki in Indonesia. Located 9 Km south-east of Denpasar which is widely known as a prestigious resort place with high class hotels, calm bungalows, and coral reef that plays the role of the tide bank.

Big hotels, wood-covered paths, tropical forest, coral reeves - all these are in place to produce a harmony so as to remind the visitors of a well designed park. Truly this a place which is small but elegant and safer in term of law and order compared to Kuta which is 15 Km away.
Bungalows for the commercial run was established in 1950, however, tourism has not been active until after the construction of eleven-story Bali Beach Hotel in the 1960s. Until now, the hotel is the highest building in the regions that can be seen from far away. In 1965 when the construction of the hotel building was completed, Sanur Village Council (BANJAR) had opened a meeting in fear of construction of more buildings that are higher than coconut trees, and unanimously passed a bill that limit the height of the buildings which is enacted thereafter in all the Bali areas.

Others include Nusa Dua Area, Kuta Area, Handicraft Village, Balong Dance, etc.
